3. Crypto is volatile — you can lose everything

Cryptocurrency markets are extremely volatile. Prices can and do move by double-digit percentages in a single day. Some tokens have lost 90%+ of their value within weeks. Some exchanges and platforms have collapsed overnight, taking user funds with them. Self-custody carries its own risks: lose your seed phrase and your funds are gone forever — no bank can recover them.

Never invest more than you can afford to lose in full. This is not a rhetorical flourish; it is the single most important rule in crypto, and we mean it literally.

4. Do your own research

Before making any decision involving your money, do your own research and, for anything material, consult a qualified professional — a licensed financial advisor for investment questions, a Belgian tax advisor for tax questions, and a lawyer for legal questions. What is right for one reader will not be right for another. Our book and course can help you ask better questions; they cannot answer them for your specific situation.

5. No warranty of accuracy or completeness

We do our best to make sure everything we publish is accurate at the time of publication. However, cryptocurrency is a fast-moving field. Regulations change. Exchanges change fee schedules. Protocols get upgraded, forked, or deprecated. Tokens rebrand or disappear.

We provide our content "as is", without any express or implied warranty of accuracy, completeness, timeliness, or fitness for a particular purpose. We do not update the book once printed. We update the course when we can, but there may be a gap between a real-world change and our reflection of it.

6. Regulatory landscape

The legal treatment of cryptocurrency varies significantly between jurisdictions and changes frequently. Something that is legal in Belgium may be regulated or restricted where you live. Something legal today may not be legal next year. We do not advise on the legality of any activity in any jurisdiction. It is your responsibility to know and follow the rules in your own country.

8. AI-assisted content disclosure

9. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by Belgian law, CryptoPages Press, Esmael BV, Riley Duarte, and anyone associated with the imprint shall not be liable for any loss or damage — direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or otherwise — arising from your use of our content or your reliance on it, including but not limited to financial loss, loss of data, or loss of crypto assets.

This limitation does not exclude liability for fraud, wilful misconduct, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under mandatory Belgian consumer law.

10. Refund policy

The book, once purchased and delivered (physical or digital), is generally not refundable, in line with Article VI.53 of the Belgian Code of Economic Law which excludes the right of withdrawal for digital content whose supply has begun with the consumer's consent, and for sealed items unsealed after delivery.

11. Governing law & disputes

This disclaimer, and any dispute arising from our website, book, course, or newsletter, is governed by Belgian law. Any dispute that cannot be resolved amicably shall be brought before the competent courts of the judicial district of Leuven (Vlaams-Brabant), without prejudice to your rights as a consumer under EU consumer-protection law to bring proceedings in the courts of your Member State of residence.

EU consumers can also use the European Commission's Online Dispute Resolution platform.
